Dr. Patrick Wertmann studierte Sinologie, Chinesische Sprache und Ostasiatische Kunstgeschichte in Berlin und Shanghai. Im Jahr 2013 wurde er an der Freien Universit\u00e4t Berlin promoviert. Von 2013 bis 2016 arbeitete er als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter im Deutsch-Chinesischen Forschungsprojekt \u201eSilk Road Fashion\u201c des Deutschen Arch\u00e4ologischen Instituts und von 2016 bis 2018 als Postdoc an der Renmin Universit\u00e4t in Peking. Seit Februar 2020 ist er am Asien-Orient-Institut der Universit\u00e4t Z\u00fcrich im Forschungsprojekt \u201eSino-Indo-Iranica rediviva\u201c t\u00e4tig, in dem anhand von linguistischen, historischen und arch\u00e4ologischen Daten der fr\u00fcheste Austausch von materiellen G\u00fctern zwischen Zentralasien und China untersucht wird. In seiner Arbeit besch\u00e4ftigt sich Patrick Wertmann mit Themen der chinesischen Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte, des antiken Kulturtransfers in Eurasien sowie der sich rapide entwickelnden Museumslandschaft Chinas und dem dortigen Umgang mit Kulturerbe. Gro\u00dfe Freude bereitet ihm zudem die popul\u00e4rwissenschaftliche Vermittlung von Themen rund um die Geschichte, Kultur und Arch\u00e4ologie Chinas.<\/p>\n
Webseite des Projekts \u201eSino-Indo-Iranica rediviva\u201c: Dr. Patrick Wertmann studied Sinology, Chinese Language and East Asian Art History in Berlin and Shanghai. In 2013, he received his doctorate from Free University of Berlin. From 2013 to 2016, he worked for the Sino-German research project \u201cSilk Road Fashion\u201d at the German Archaeological Institute and from 2016 to 2018 as postdoc at Renmin University in Beijing. Since February 2020, he is part of the research project \u201cSino-Indo-Iranica rediviva\u201d at the Institute of Asian and Oriental Studies of the University of Zurich, in which he and his team examine the earliest exchanges of commodities along the ancient Eurasian trade networks using linguistic, historical, and archaeological data. In his work, Patrick focusses on topics related to Chinese culture and art history, ancient cultural transfer across Eurasia, the fast-developing museum landscape of China as well as the question as to how China is dealing with its cultural heritage.
