In our photo of the month we are witnesses to the discovery at Zincirli H\u00f6y\u00fck of impressive stone reliefs from the Late Hittite period. Those of us who have worked on archaeological excavations know only too well the excitement that emanates from such new finds, frequently leading to lunch breaks being forgotten and work continuing past the normal hours. Whilst excavation is in progress, other team members look on, equally enthralled by the new discoveries.
Zincirli (Sendschirli), within the borders of today\u2019s Gaziantep province, was one of the Late Hittite kingdoms established in the south of the Taurus Mountains following the fall of the Hittite Empire around 1.200 BC. The team led by Felix von Luschan conducted archaeological excavations there between 1888 and 1902. This is one of the earliest German excavations in Anatolia.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Ar\u015fivimizden se\u00e7ti\u011fimiz ay\u0131n foto<\/em>\u011fraf\u0131nda<\/em> hummal\u0131 bir kaz\u0131 \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmas\u0131 g\u00f6r\u00fclmekte. Foto\u011fraf, Zincirli H\u00f6y\u00fck\u2019te Ge\u00e7 Hitit D\u00f6nemi\u2018ne tarihlenen etkileyici ta\u015f kabartmalar\u0131n ortaya \u00e7\u0131kar\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131 bir an\u0131 g\u00f6steriyor. Kaz\u0131 \u00e7al\u0131\u015fanlar\u0131 bilir; araziden g\u00fczel bir buluntu geldi\u011finde t\u00fcm molalar iptal olur ve aral\u0131ks\u0131z \u00e7al\u0131\u015f\u0131l\u0131r. Foto\u011frafta, \u00e7al\u0131\u015fan i\u015f\u00e7ilerin ve hatta arka planda onlar\u0131 merakla izleyen i\u015f\u00e7ilerin bile yorgun oldu\u011fu farkediliyor. Bu e\u015fsiz buluntular i\u00e7in de\u011fer!<\/p>

Buradaki ilk arkeolojik kaz\u0131lar\u0131 1888 ile 1902 y\u0131llar\u0131 aras\u0131nda Felix von Luschan ba\u015fkanl\u0131\u011f\u0131ndaki ekip y\u00fcr\u00fctm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr.
