This massive wall in the monthly photo from our archive is from Alacah\u00f6y\u00fck. The sign painted on the wall confuses us. It reads \u201cHittite the 2nd<\/sup> storey\u201d. After an entertaining discussion on whether it is the second floor of the building, the second row of walls, or the second layer of the archaeological site; we decide that the word \u201cstorey\u201d was written instead of the layer.<\/p>

This photograph is also a proof of the cooperation of the German Archaeological Institute with many institutions in Turkey. This photo taken by Manfred Korfmann is just one of the photographs selected from our archive for the upcoming exhibition on archeology in the Early Republican Period, to be opened very soon at the Yap\u0131 Kredi Museum, Beyo\u011flu. We look forward to the exhibition.<\/p>

We also would like to announce to those who follow the photo of the month series. Last month, our library employee Banu Dogan shared the photo with our former library employee Ali Akkaya, which was highly appreciated. From now on every month one of our institute employee will choose a photograph and share a story. Foto\u011fraftaki duvar\u0131n \u00fczerine boya ile yap\u0131lm\u0131\u015f tabela kafam\u0131z\u0131 kar\u0131\u015ft\u0131r\u0131yor. Hitit 2. Kat! Binan\u0131n ikinci kat\u0131 m\u0131, duvar\u0131n ikinci s\u0131ras\u0131 m\u0131, yoksa arkeolojik alan\u0131n ikinci katman\u0131 m\u0131 diye devam eden e\u011flenceli bir tart\u0131\u015fmadan sonra; katman yerine kat yaz\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131na karar veriyoruz.<\/p>
