The photo of the Month series from our archive continues with the contributions of DAI employees!<\/div><\/div>
On my first working day at the DAI, I had found myself surrounded by piles of documentation on Zeyrek, one of the historical districts of Istanbul. Hundreds of photos and tens of sketches from the 1970s till today\u2026 While researching the houses, the majority of which were wooden, after some time, I realized that I had also started to scrutinize the people in the photos. Two friends conversing as they walked side by side, a woman with her bucket in hand going to the fountain in order to get water and kids whose excitement reflected in their eyes\u2026 Each detail the photograph archive presented, helped to understand the structure and life of Zeyrek and the Istanbul of that period. Places and people… There was no Zeyrek without them; same today as well, no historical district could be imagined, should not be imagined without the people inhabiting it\u2026<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Ar\u015fivimizden Ay\u0131n Fotograf\u0131 serimiz DAI \u00e7al\u0131\u015fanlar\u0131n\u0131n katk\u0131lar\u0131 ile devam ediyor.<\/div><\/div>
DAI\u2019deki ilk \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma g\u00fcn\u00fcmde, \u0130stanbul\u2019un tarihi semtlerinden biri olan Zeyrek\u2019e ait bir s\u00fcr\u00fc dosya ile ba\u015fba\u015fa bulmu\u015ftum kendimi. 1970\u2019lerin sonundan g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcze ula\u015fm\u0131\u015f y\u00fczlerce foto\u011fraf ve onlarca \u00e7izim\u2026 \u00c7o\u011funlu\u011fu ah\u015fap olan evleri ara\u015ft\u0131r\u0131rken, bir s\u00fcre sonra, foto\u011fraflardaki insanlar\u0131 da incelemeye ba\u015flad\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131 farkettim. Yan yana y\u00fcr\u00fcrken bir yandan da sohbet eden iki arkada\u015f, elinde kovas\u0131yla \u00e7e\u015fmeden su doldurmaya giden bir kad\u0131n ve heyecanlar\u0131 g\u00f6zlerinden okunan \u00e7ocuklar\u2026 Foto\u011fraf ar\u015fivinin sundu\u011fu her bir detay; Zeyrek\u2019in yap\u0131s\u0131n\u0131, ya\u015fant\u0131s\u0131n\u0131 ve d\u00f6nemin \u0130stanbul\u2019unu anlamama yard\u0131mc\u0131 oldu.
