Beziehungen zwischen den antiken und mittelalterlichen Kulturen des nubischen Niltals und den zeitgleichen, vor allem eisenverarbeitenden Kulturen des Tschadbeckens und der \u00fcbrigen Sahel-Region ist seit l\u00e4ngerem Gegenstand wissenschaftlicher Diskussionen. Ein neues Licht auf die Einbindung der Kulturen des Nubischen Niltals in eine in Ost-West-Richtung verlaufende Kontaktzone werfen Entdeckungen, die in den Jahren 2011 und 2017 durch die geplante Felddirektorin Jana Eger gemacht worden sind. Im Bereich des Tafelbergs Jebel al-Ain an der Grenze von Nord-Kordofan wurden ein christliches Zentrum, wahrscheinlich ein Klosterkomplex, sowie mehrere weitere arch\u00e4ologische St\u00e4tten identifiziert, deren Struktur eine enge Beziehung dieser \u00fcber 250 km vom Nil entfernte Kulturlandschaft mit den Niltalkulturen nahe legt. Das hier vorgestellte Forschungsprojekt soll die durch diese Entdeckungen aufgeworfenen Fragen hinsichtlich der Rolle Nord-Kordofans als kulturhistorische Kontaktzone kl\u00e4ren \u2013 sowohl in kleinr\u00e4umiger Hinsicht (Verbindung der Jebel al-Ain-Region zum Niltal sowie den alt-kordofanischen Kulturen mit dem Zentrum Zankor), als auch bez\u00fcglicher gr\u00f6\u00dferer R\u00e4ume (die Rolle Nord-Kordofans als Kontaktzone zwischen den Niltalkulturen und den Kulturen des Sahelg\u00fcrtels, insbesondere des Tschadbeckens). Fragen dazu sind:<\/p><ul><li>Wo innerhalb der Region befinden sich \u00f6kologische Gunstr\u00e4ume, die Kern- und Kristallisationspunkte historischer Kulturentwicklung dargestellt haben k\u00f6nnten?<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-5ca7edde elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"5ca7edde\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-47a41cfc\" data-id=\"47a41cfc\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ee18ff4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ee18ff4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>In welchem Verh\u00e4ltnis standen (eher lineare) Makrokommunikation und (eher netzwerkorientierte) Mikrokommunikation zu einander? Konkret, lassen sich anhand der Zeugnisse verschiedener Wegef\u00fchrungen Langstreckenverkehr, z.B. Karawanenhandel, und Kurzstreckenverkehr, z.B. im Rahmen pastoral-transhumanter Wirtschaftskonzepte, voneinander differenzieren?<\/li><li>Welche Rolle spielte die Makrokommunikation durch diese Region f\u00fcr den \u00fcberregionalen Technologietransfer? Exemplarisch k\u00f6nnte hierbei die Fragestellung der wechselseitigen Beeinflussung oder aber unabh\u00e4ngigen Entwicklung der Eisenverh\u00fcttungstechnologie in der meroitischen und der westafrikanischen bzw. Tschadbecken-Kulturen untersucht werden.<\/li><li>Inwieweit spiegeln kulturelle Verbindungen zum Niltal, insbesondere im Bereich des Jebel al-Ain, auch eine politisch-administrative Durchdringung dieses peripheren Raumes durch die staatlich organisierten Strukturen des Niltals wider? Hier kann die Untersuchung von wasserbaulichen Anlagen westlich des Jebel al-Ain, die enge Parallelen im meroitischen Kernland aufweisen und deren dortige Rolle als Elemente zentralstaatlicher Kontrolle \u00fcber periphere R\u00e4ume kontrovers diskutiert wird, Aufschl\u00fcsse erm\u00f6glichen. Eine n\u00e4here Untersuchung des am Jebel al-Ain liegenden christlichen Komplexes verspricht Erkenntnisse \u00fcber den direkten Einfluss Makurias auf diesen Abschnitt des Sahara-Randbereichs.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section
