Elle pi\u00e8ge plus de 1 712 \u00b1 634 tonnes de carbone par hectare, soit neuf fois plus que le carbone moyen s\u00e9questr\u00e9 dans la biomasse a\u00e9rienne des <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-5efe1c7 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"5efe1c7\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-f1e4760\" data-id=\"f1e4760\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1a47efd elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1a47efd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>arbres vivants des for\u00eats tropicales humides africaines. Des \u00e9tudes scientifiques ont \u00e9t\u00e9 entreprises par plusieurs groupes de recherche internationaux sur les tourbi\u00e8res du Bassin du Congo en raison de l&#8217;importance de ces \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes. Ces chercheurs ont \u00e9tudi\u00e9 l&#8217;histoire de cette immense tourbi\u00e8re. Leurs r\u00e9sultats montrent que ce gigantesque r\u00e9servoir de carbone ne l&#8217;a pas toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 et que cela pourrait changer \u00e0 l&#8217;avenir sous l&#8217;effet du changement climatique et de pressions anthropiques. Mais il reste beaucoup d&#8217;incertitudes dans la compr\u00e9hension des processus qui d\u00e9terminent la formation et le d\u00e9veloppement des tourbes dans le Bassin du Congo, notamment en termes d\u2019hydrologie, de s\u00e9dimentologie, de g\u00e9ochimie, de pal\u00e9o\u00e9cologie et des influences humaines.<\/p><p>Dans le cadre du projet SPP &#8222;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dainst.blog\/entangled-africa\/en\/p10-congo-basin-en\/\">Arch\u00e9ologie et pal\u00e9o\u00e9cologie du bassin int\u00e9rieur du Congo<\/a>&#8222;, une s\u00e9quence s\u00e9dimentaire d&#8217;environ 2 m de profondeur a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9lev\u00e9e dans une tourbi\u00e8re pr\u00e8s de Bolondo (province de Tshuapa, R\u00e9publique d\u00e9mocratique du Congo) dans le but de reconstituer l&#8217;histoire de la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation sur le site, de comprendre la dynamique du carbone associ\u00e9 et d&#8217;\u00e9valuer sa vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 au changement climatique et aux activit\u00e9s humaines. Des datations au carbone 14 ont permis d\u2019estimer l\u2019\u00e2ge de la tourbe. Plusieurs indicateurs g\u00e9ochimiques issus des coop\u00e9rations avec CEREGE (Aix-en-Provence) et MARUM (Bremen) ont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9s entre autres le niveau de sa d\u00e9composition, et l&#8217;analyse isotopique des cires v\u00e9g\u00e9tales a permis d&#8217;obtenir des informations sur la composition de la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation et l&#8217;histoire des pr\u00e9cipitations.
