In addition<\/span><span class=\"a\">to the human remains themselves, this includes written and pictorial sources<span>\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"w6\"><\/span>as well as<span>\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"w8\"><\/span>things closely\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"g\"><span class=\"a\">related to the body (\u2018body\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"a\">&#8211;\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"a\">related things\u2019)\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"a\">from ancient and contemporary societies all over the world.<\/span><span class=\"a\">In three thematic sections and with broad disciplinary participation, the first annual conference of the<\/span><span class=\"a\">cluster opens up the possibility of debating approaches to past concepts of the living as well as the<\/span><span class=\"a\">dead body and of death.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div><p>In September 2022, the Human Bioarchaeology group of the DAI Berlin hosted the first international hybrid conference of the Cluster Body and Death of the DAI. Lectures on ancient and modern concepts of the body, dying and death. The participants met on the premises of the Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin and the lively discussions were continued in the surrounding restaurants in the evening.
