International Colloquia in Madrid and Istanbul (30 October – 1 November 2025)
Examining individual city and micro-regional configurations always carries the risk of analytical and interpretative isolation – a challenge that the TransPergMikro project is well aware of. Against this background, the two-part conference City and Micro-region in the Ancient Mediterranean (and Beyond), jointly organized by the Madrid and Istanbul departments of the German Archaeological Institute (DAI), holds particular significance. It brings together a wide range of case studies that can be compared with the situation in Pergamon.
Following the successful opening event in Madrid in May 2025, the second colloquium will take place in Istanbul from 30 October to 1 November 2025. This meeting will focus, among other themes, on questions of connectivity.
While the TransPergMikro project itself is represented at the conferences with only two contributions, its theoretical, terminological, and methodological framework continues to play a key role in the broader discussions. In this spirit – and in anticipation of a fruitful expansion of the discursive horizon – we look forward to the Istanbul conference.
